Ok - one more (lol):

Robert McGaffin's signature move is these photos where it looks like the car is in motion.

The way he does that is he attaches a boom to the underside of the car and the takes a timed exposure, walking backwards while the car slowly rolls forward. He photoshops the structure out of the photo and you end up with this very dynamic looking shot.

So - we set up the shot and he explained what we were going to do. ("Hands at 10 and 2 o clock, and don't stick your tongue out" he said). He asked me to turn the wheel slightly to the left for artistic purposes.

I told him "Robert. This is a 3600 lb racecar with a spool. It doesn't turn and roll. It only goes straight."

He said "that's ok. We'll have my assistant, Bubba (I don't remember his real name) give you a little push to get you going".

I wasn't so sure about that. Needless to say Bubba gradually increased his efforts until he was sweating profusely and quite red in the face.

Robert took a step back to re-asses the situation. "Maybe you could leave the wheels straight" he said.
