Mark, I appreciate the though and suggestion. That is the direction I started. If you can see the picture, the tin cover IS one of those taller stock looking jobs. Any I may run that (throw the matching one on the other side) and a decal or two to keep the project going.
Long term, I would like to run the Mickey Thompson covers or Ansen- so we'll see.
Since these are early L-88 heads (392) we did upgrade to the longer studs, running SS Crower rockers with a decent roller. We did have to repair the boss on one of the studs, and for that reason, the stud girdle was used. A shaft system would have been nice, but that is hindsight.
