Default 1967 L71 435 HP 427 Rebuild

I'am in the process of rebuilding a virgin 1967 435 HP 427 and would like to share the rebuild with this forum. We will rebuild the whole engine close to factory specifications and then dyno test the beast. My customer sent me this engine out of his 67 Vette, at some point the short block was replaced under warranty. The short block is a 68 439 casting block with the original 391 casting heads. Eric at Vintage rebuilt the carbs and they look excellent!

So I tore the engine down and there was some rust, but no other problems were found. After cleaning the crank which showed very little wear but was under the low side of the spec, very strange, so I decided to ck the stroke and found it to be .006 under the factory stroke on one throw, so at this point I figured we should grind the crank to get in the middle of the spec and set the stroke and index, which will help seeing the block cannot be decked. Stroke was set on every throw at 3.766 exact along with the index corrected.
