65 or 75cc chambers? I dont think the heads will be the issue as you can make them work with the right cam. Did you get a wear pattern on the gear during install? Also I assume you are running a cam button.. Couple other things.. When you pull the cam look at the gear. Does it have any burrs or sharp edges? That'll eat one up too. Also have you tried a slip collar distributor? Just curious if the block and/or intake stack up could be off and causing the gear failure.. Just throwing out ideas..
