Default Happy Veterans Day!

Thanks guys also really great to know of your family's WW2 service too Bill.
Cool your dad was in the Canadian Navy, do you know any ship names he sailed aboard?
My best buddy's pop was posted aboard the Canadian HMS French and used to tell us some harrowing WW2 sea tales.
My own father was too young for WW2 service but both my grandfathers were Canadian WW1 soldiers who survived the war, I knew them pretty well but too young to understand then and both of them passed away by the mid 70's.
What helped me 'get it' was in '75, my grandmother was throwing away my mom's dad's stuff and gave me his original WW1 kitbag and helmet. Inside the bag are his leather dog tags, puttees, utensils, flask, shaving gear and more including his personal journal and letters from mom.
Over the years whenever I feel like I've had a rough day or week, I crack open the bag and go through the stuff again to get a fresh understanding...that I have absolutely no idea what tough days are really all about!
Prayers and God's blessings for all who serve, especially those in harm's way right now!
