So, the repro unit is apparently quite correct for a '67 BB car that has a larger heater box and thus a core that is 2.5" wide. However, in '68 the box changed, and so did the core which is just 2.0" wide. So, certain repro companies only sell the 2.5" unit which might work in the '68-'69 heater boxes, but you can't use the retaining clips.

I found one site, Heartbeat City, that has notes regarding the differences between the 2 different sizes and the related applications. So, I'll be ordering one from them - more expensive than other sites, but I'll gladly pay it if it fits properly!
