Thought I'd best give the CA Black Plate #'s from the eBay ad a whirl in the time machine and BINGO...two old newspaper ads from Sept. '78 as below.
If the 2'nd Owner purchased from Original Owner @ 32,000 in 1980, the timeline works perfectly also note 'Orig. cond & owner' in ad text.
