Default Re: 1964 ford thunderbolt

Here's one on Hemmings, from the 2nd batch built.

http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/...0/1800579.html

Some background info posted in '07 from Dennis K., somebody who I think is among the most well versed in Ford Drag cars (his personal file of Ford documents and internal memos is unbelievable)

"Yes, there is a registry and it is maintained by the Thunderbolt Owners Association. Incidently, some owners simply don't want their information released for various reasons. I have always offered to help anyone out that has a T-Bolt or thinks they have located a T-Bolt to help document the vehicle.

"T-Bolt statistics include 100 cars built, 59 automatic cars and 41 four speeds. The first group consisted of 11 cars, Vintage Burgandy, 10 four speeds and 1 automatic. These were the cars that went to the Drag Council members and were released in Oct 1963.

The second batch consisted of 39 Wimbeldon White cars, 30 automatics and 9 four speeds. These were delivered between Dec 63 - Feb 64 to make 50 units to be eligible for Super Stock class.

The third batch consisted of 5 groups of ten Wimbeldon White cars, an additional fifty more. 28 automatics and 22 four speeds. These were delivered between Feb - May 1964.

Of the 100 cars, there has been approximately 79 cars documented, leaving 21 cars still to be found, of these 21 cars there are unconfirmed rumors on two of them.

Of the 79 documented cars, 60 cars are still in existence in some shape or form. Of these 60, 13 cars have been rebodied, anywhere from "just a memory" to making use of components left from the original car, usually the lightweight parts. It is unfortunate that some of these cars were done just for someone to try to make a quick buck. I am aware of a number of the rebodied cars selling for six digit figures to the unknowing person"
