I am in the process of painting a 66 Chevelle and am trying to match an original color. I have the original paint codes from a variety of paint manufacturers and the local paint suppliers say "no problem" I can do it. Only problem is that the samples that are mixed up are always not correct. A couple of the samples have been off by a mile. In addition to trying to do it by the paint code, I have original paint on a trunk lid which I brought in to be scanned. Scanning did not work because the paint was "too thin" or "not consistent" to get a read for the scanning. The scanner did come up with something but the result was not close. I also have an original paint selection brochure from 66 but the paint chip is too small to scan it. The color is Sandalwood Tan which is a gold/tan sort of a color. Any suggestions on how to do this would be appreciated. Thanks for any idea you may have.
