I'm not sure what the internals to the engine are.

I wasn't sure it was a 454 until I removed the starter and saw the counterweights on the flywheel.

Is there a way to verify what short block was used without opening up the engine?

The pad is stamped with the 1972 CE numbers and there is T062 stamped by the starter flange.
