Default Intake Question

I'm contemplating changing the intake on my car. Here's the overview of my engine/car package.

402 +.040=410ci, 10,5:1 compression, solid roller cam (.640/.647 lift, .236/.242 [email protected], 110 LS), Muncie M22W (2.52 first gear), 4.56 rear. The car weighs 3800 lbs with me in it. I shift the car at 7000 rpm.

I have been running an Edelbrock TM2R intake with a Holley 950 HP carb for a few years now. I have an over the counter 3933163 intake I could modify to work with my motor. I've had people tell me to change it to the 163 intake because I need the dual plane for low end torque and that if I cut the plenum down similar to a 198 intake, it will work fine at 7k rpm. I've also had others tell me to leave the TM2R on for the rpms.

Keep in mind that I know there are better intakes out there like an Edelbrock Air Gap but I want to keep it old school.

Any opinions?

Thanks, Kurt
