Ha! Yes the Aussie muscle cars are a special breed, I have owned many Holdens (obviously I'm a GM car guy) and the 253 and 308 can be built into reliable and pretty stout engines. Many Holdens were available new with a Chevy 350 option, so that's a popular 'upgrade' for many owners.
Thanks for asking about my car, it is (and will remain) left hook, came over in 1999 so it's been here long enough to pick up an accent and learn to dodge kangaroos. Plenty of Camaros over here these days, although fortunately only a couple in my area (one's a nice SS clone and the other is a full-tilt race car) and overall, very few Z's.
