Re: Vintage Lakewood Scattershield - Wanted
Its not for a newer one....its for the bell you have listed. (oops, I meant ,69 & up. The Block Plates for the '68 on back used an identical plate as pictured. With the Bottom Circle not there. It went straight across the
engine block rail exposing the flywheel just as if a "stock tin dust cover" was removed. Extremely Rare, as Most were THROWN AWAY for
Safety/installation issues.
A solution is to find a block plate 1570 and cut off the bottom.....ugggh.
Another fact of the '68 on back removable clutch access Scatter Shield from LAKEWOOD is They were Painted BLACK as pictured above.
The 1 piece were the first ones painted RED..... all the block savers were UN-PAINTED....Until the 80's.....
Some plates have a single starter hole, some have a knockout crescent moon for SB use as the plates interchange.
A BB shield can be used on a 10 1/2" clutch but a SB shield of that era CAN'T be used on an 11" clutch.
Note the L88 uses the SB set up ,,,, they used a 10 1/2 " dual disc and a special light weight flywheel....cool pieces of unobtainium today.
