Re: Fathers Lost Yenko Chevelle #358034 Butternut
Hello parmstrong,
I would welcome any information you have regarding the history of the car. I had to ask my mom about a few of the "nicknames" to make sure I could put a face with a name. My fathers cousin Andy was known as Gear and his friend Charlie was known as Zero...The others I was never familiar with and would welcome a conversation about them. I am currently trying to contact his friend Mike G. who is in Tennessee also. As you can tell by the length of this thread that there has been alot of information discovered about the car and it's restoration. I still cannot find any information on it from 78 until 84 when Leroy Funk had possession of it, I've tried to contact his widow to no avail, and I respect her choice if she chooses not to. Ive been lucky enough to talk with Clarence about the car and he has shared what he knows about the car up until his brother sold it to one of the Kibbe brothers. I've heard from other friends that the car that's posted as George Lyons restoration is not "exactly" what it looked like when my father owned it. I'm sure the image his car, the way it was, is burned into your memories like it was yesterday. I know by talks with "Zero" the he says he can still remember the way the car smelled and what pink floyd 8-track my dad used to play in it. The pictures of I have speak a million words to me and I leave it to his friends to make them into stories. I know it sounds like a hallmark card...but it's the truth.
I would really like to talk to you if you are willing.. my # is 989-600-6881. I would welcome a conversation and answer any questions you may have if they haven't been answered on here. You can also PM me if you wish. I check this site every few days. And thank-you to the person who emailed me about this post. I wouldnt of see it til Tuesday if you wouldnt of got ahold of me.
Best regards and I look forward to hearing from you.
