Mega-buck cars have always maintained their values. This car sold for a similar amount a few years ago, and if the current auction is any indication, the market suggests this car's demand is relatively inelastic through several economic conditions.

I think a better barometer would be cars that are more core to the hobby that sell for under six figures.
