Re: Tone Blue
I don't know your exact combo, but you should have no problem getting that car in the 13s.
I had a '70 Nova that would run 14.2s all day long (50+ passes) with a combination so simple and cheap it was ridiculous.
Engine started as 1978 350 12cc dish piston short block w/ 100k+ miles on it. Original rings and bearings never touched. All the other stuff below was new and added to this shortblock.
Fresh '73 993 76 cc heads with light bowl cleanup (~8.4:1 compression ratio)
204/214 .420"/.442" generic "RV" cam.
Performer RPM intake
Q-jet
Stock points distributor
1.6 roller tip Comp rockers
1-5/8" cyclone headers - 2.5" exhaust, flowmasters
TH350 from a '77 malibu wagon with whatever stock converter came with it from the junkyard.
8.5" 10-bolt - 3.08 w/ a junkyard posi from an 80s van
'73 camaro 14x7 "square hole" rally wheels with 215/70R14 BFG radial T/As on all 4 corners.
No tricks - full interior with buckets and console, stock weight car with the spare and a toolbox in the trunk. I drove it daily at the time and would go to the track on weekends. Like clockwork, it always ran in the 14.2-14.3 range @ 97-98 mph @ a 1200 ft elevation track (Keystone raceway near Pittsburgh).
Really "bland" combination of parts that all just seemed to work for whatever reason.
