When I restored Corvettes at Corvette Specialties in the early 80's DOT 5 was all we used with no issues. Since going out on my own I have used it in 90% of my restorations. It tends to seep a little where DOT 3 likely would not but you just tighten the fittings and move on. No damage. It is very hard to do a full restoration without some spillage of fluid so I am thankful when I have had it in. Most rebuilders who resleeve the master cylinders and wheel cylinders will not warrant them if you use DOT 5 however but that is the only issue I come across.
