More from the owner....

Hi Charley

Since I can not reply directly to the postings by the Yenko members, let me explain what I know and please post it.

The #4 ZL1 was raced by Len Sabatine for Ben Moore (Hauser) in 1969. While #4 was being raced, #43 was for sale. I had looked at the car several times (without a salesman nagging me). So the issue of parts being order for #4 while #43 was for sale makes sense.
I had several speed shops look at the car before I turned it over to Hauser. I was told that the reason why the car wouldn't run properly (Fouled Plugs) was because the car sat unused for a long time or "abused" and the valve guides had cracked. I was told to tell Hauser to change the guides to TEFLON and the problem would be corrected, of course they refuse.

As to the engine being sold out it is not true. Hauser did sell the ZL1 engine out of #4 and replaced it with a 396, which Hauser then sold the car to a local customer.

The last I heard is that the #4 is alive and well with a replacement ZL1 engine resides in Wisconsin.

I would not surprise if the engine in #43 had been switched at some point with the engine from the #4, which would explain why Hauser kept delaying the meeting with the Chevrolet rep. Who knows crooks are crooks!!!!

I'm sure that there's at least one individual out there that knows something...so if you are and you read my posting, I would love hear any information about it before I die.

Thanks again.
