I sent Mark a tip that worked pretty well for cleaning and de-rusting parts that I used to clean up my gas cap that was in similar shape as the one he has here. I soak parts in vinegar. My cap was only in the solution for an hour or so. Some items may take days. Mark asked me to post this on his add, so here it is. While not perfect, my cap came out real well, well enough I decided not to re-plate. I like the original survivor look better.
