People have been paying much more money for unaltered original cars as of late. Paying even more than what a similarly restored car would bring in.
(I am a certified example of that)
The survivors now seem to be "THE" cars to acquire. I think a lot of it has to do with the bulletproof nature of their condition as an added, major portion of the provenance puzzle. Anyone can fake paperwork but you can't fake originality.
(Too bad they restored the engine compartment).
