Cool old pic !!! My first camaro I bought with a friend for 75 bucks in 1977. It was a driving 67 w/327 auto. It had a Starsky and Hutch stripe at the time..(wish I had a picture).
At that time, I saw an article about the elusive 602 67 Z-28's, so we imediately turned it into a Z clone...even w the automatic !! At the time the 67 Z's were thought to be all Rally Sports !!
The point is, clones go way back !! </div></div>
Yup! In 1983 (I was 11 yrs old), my Dad picked up a '68 Malibu 307 for my Mom to drive. Within 6 months, it had an SS hood, blacked out grill and rear cove, SS emblems front and rear, and 69-70 SS wheels. The SS cars just looked better, and "SS" parts were available and cheap back then. No reason not to "clone".
