Default Re: Project: Hot rodding a 69 Nova

The progress continues, although it took a detour this week. I wasn't planning on doing any body/paint work, but I had a little mishap, and dinged the hood. Not a problem really. I got some of the base coat with the car, and it's Sherwin Williams, the brand I always use. Dents fixed, and will be painted when I can get some booth time. The hood is scuffed. It just needs some color on a couple spots, then a couple coats of clear......Then sanding and buffing. So far it looks good.

I got the radiator support and inner fenders done. Had to do some pitting repair, but nothing too terrible.

I also got the whole smog system on the engine. All went well, except the the JUNK repro pump bracket. Luckily Albert's parts supply had a real one in stock.

I also got the driveshaft installed. That took about 5 mins.

Then I decided to blast the battery tray. Not sure what paint was on it, but the blast cabinet didn't even scratch it. So I broke out the paint remover. I think it was painted with the same paint they use on the bottom of the space shuttle.

I have some custom wire harnesses being made by American Autowire. They are great to work with, even if you're a pain in the a$$ like me, and want special wiring done. Donny is making me a harness that has all the plugs for the Shiftworks in dash tach.

Gonna take a break and head out to the Ohio Chevelle show. Lots to do when I get back.
