The L-72 engine in a any Chevrolet 1966 to 1969 was the same: internal compression, head configuration (rectangle port / combustion chamber rating) as any year L-71 Corvette engine. The only thing that changed from 1966 to 1969 was casting numbers of the block & cylinder heads, drilled holes ect. for sending units & accessories.
In 1966 & most early 1967 engines, the camshaft had the "Groove" in the back for oiling reasons and they will not interchange with the later non-grooved camshaft. The specs. of the camshaft I believe are identical. That's what I remember.
