Re: New Project showed up today......
Update.........In buying the Heidt's Super Ride set-up.......and this not being the first unit they produced......You would think they would have the kit's engineering down to a point where it would be able to be assembled by a first grader..........LOL.......Guess I think with today's technology that would be a simple thing to do...........I'm being overly critical, but.....If someone was doing this for the first time, they should be able to follow the instructions and have no issues.........Not the case here.....
Again.....Just a few simple things.....The sway bar mounting blocks don't fit where they are supposed to because of the Weld fillet in that area.....Rework the blocks to fit.....the lower control arms are slightly different, they are not marked left or right, the instructions don't say which way they go....and the picture again is very un-clear.....so....I call and get a tech.....and asked him which way they go....he told me to follow the instructions......I say .O.K......you get a set of instructions and show me where it tells which way to install them......after reading the instructions he said........Humm!!....It doesn't say..........LOL........But,,He tells me to put the slightly longer side to the back......I said....O.K.......That's the way I installed them, But....How would a first timer know that......Then in mounting the sway bar links.....They were hitting the lower control arms......Called again thinking I had the wrong Sway Bar.....The Tech asked me if I had the correct bar.......I said how would I know that.....LOL..........Got nowhere there and ended up cutting and modifying the links to get everything to work.........and the last thing was in mounting the Calipers to the Heidt brackets....They are Wilwood calipers and need to be shimmed to center the caliper with the rotor......couldn't get the calipers to bolt on straight.....in looking deeper I found that there was another weld fillet that was into the caliper mounting surface that canted the caliper sideways as it was tightened.....had to get in and grind the weld away so the caliper would fit.........Again.........Poor Q.C., Instructions, and Engineering for the first time installer..........
Here are some pics as we went along.........
