He was only 15, in way over his head, and really needed reliable transportation. The Opel wasn't pristine. I had sideswiped a pole and had to put a fender and door on it, then painted it my my garage with a rented compressor and a borrowed Binks Model 7, and converted that crappy solex carb to a rochester two barrel. But it was very reliable. Even to this day, he says he considered himself the winner on that deal... at the time. I had regretted parting with my first Z/28, and really wanted another. Got a pile of parts in the deal, including many original Z parts.
He totaled the Opel a few months later, so I probably rescued this one from the crusher.
Will try and post some progress pics after this weekend. Got the headliner in, the windows, weatherstrip, instrument cluster and all the wiring. I have one side marker light that won't light (no power to the socket), so have to disassemble part of the front harness to find the problem. Hoping to have front and rear glass installed by the weekend.
