Default Re: Next Years Power Tour Car

This car stuff is getting hard......Since MCACN is over, basically our car season is finished till next year in May when the Dells Automotion Show is......so.....I had the Survivor car on the lift doing some maintainance and I noticed that the passenger side axle seal had a very slight leak......So..I decided to fix it......As long as I had the car apart I was going to put in Ceramic pads as the ones on the car generated a lot of brake dust on the rims......So....I go to the local parts store and get a parts guy and the first question is "Sir.....year, make, and model".....( Now....I needed a stock rear axle seal,,,rear pads for a 85 Seville and front pads from a mid 90's Caprice).....After a lot of confusion (Imagine that!!!) and the guy coming back with a transmission yoke seal I decided it was time to leave.....LOL
So I go to the local Autozone and the guy there found the axle seals but, they didn't have any in stock and after a couple of minutes I could see it was time to leave there also.......
I go to Advance Auto Parts and wait for the store manager to free up and was out of there in two minutes with everything I needed.......

After taking everything apart.....again.........I found out how untalented I am..........Here's what I found.....when I installed the rear pads there is a stud on the inside face of the inner pad that was "SUPPOSED" to key into a slot in the piston......Sheesh!!!

This car stuff is hard!!......I also ordered a new set of axles as the old ones had some corrosion in the seal areas and that's what was eating the seals after a period of time...I guess it's just called "Fine Tuning"....LOL
