Re: Mecum St. Charles 2012 Pics
The boys at Mecum did another fine job. The auction was an excellent experience as always. I did not see as many super high caliber cars as experienced at previous Mecum auctions. However, I enjoyed seeing many of the bread and butter cars many of which were presented nicely. I was particularly taken with the 1970 442 W-30 auto in Twilight blue. I thought it featured one of the finest restorations I observed at the auction.
I enjoyed seeing Stefano’s black & white 1970 W-30 4spd from Nickey Chicago. It is such a great original car. What a neat car in unbeatable colors with bulletproof Canadian documentation. It is an excellent candidate for a complete concours restoration. I had a chance to hear the car leaving the auction house. It sounded fantastic out the rear exhaust pipes. What a radical beast it was! The good doctor sure knew how to build those cars! The featured 1970 red LS-6 Chevelle was also another great car.
Overall, I thought prices were strong on the top-level cars considering the current economic conditions around the country.
Well done Dana…I am very much looking forward to Kissimmee, Florida. It looks like January 2013 is going to be a great month of car auctions. RM
