When we picked up our ’69 Camaro from Cliff Ernst, is was still sporting its original Daytona yellow paint and white Yenko stripes. When we redid the car, I liked the look of Black stripes on Yellow (not realizing at the time the car could very well be one of one).
This was noted by the original when I met up with at a show in St. Louis several years ago.. Also, he swears, as do several of his buddies from back in the day, that it also had aluminum heads. According to Tony (the original owner), he dropped a valve, took it back to Francis Chevrolet where he bought it, they were slow to fix the car under warranty, after 6 months or so, when he finally got it back, the aluminum heads had been replaced by iron heads. He then traded it in for a SBC Vette.
