The aftermarket electric supercharger goes way back! I remember about 10 years ago discussing this at length with the Pontiac guys, many were wondering if these glorified leaf blowers could supply enough air for a big V8.
The company is called e-Ram, and while their product seems to be valid, the cost per hp is not very appealing.

Cool idea though, and I think anyone that's ever thought about this when they're blowing leafs in the yard (that time of year around here!) wonders whether they could build something like this. The e-Ram develops 800 cfm and 1 psi, and is very compact. Imagine a couple of these mounted around the core support area, tucked in the corners, and couple 66-69 Olds W-30 style hoses running up to your sealed air box. Hmmm..... While they can generate some positive pressure in a sealed air cleaner housing, it takes a lot more air flow than that to generate a positive pressure when a big V8 is gulping 800 cfm of air under full throttle.
