I don't believe that's correct regarding when Tonawanda stamped the blocks. Pics I have seen show the heads not installed at the time of stamping. I've also seen original motors with the stamping very close to the head. Obviously the vin stamp can't be too close to the head as they definitely are on for that proceedure.

Thanks for the clarification Chris. This is the first I've ever heard of the head possibly not being on for the Tonawanda stamp.
