Default Re: 224 Year Old Store Closing

Sad story and too familiar as the General Store where I grew up closed a few years ago.
Similar thing, multi generation family business operated for well over 100 years but they shut things down after being robbed for the first time in their century plus of service also were tired of recent hassles w/ the health board who prefer convenience store chains instead of good ol' mom/pop operations.
The last of the shopkeeps is an old hot-rodder who's about 80 now, I know the family well and we still keep in touch.
Sadly he told me another reason he gave up is the crooks who busted in had snatched the original nickel plated NCR register they'd been using for the last 75 plus years and all just felt wrong afterwards.
I can still hear the sound of the horse-bells hanging on the door that'd jangle when entering/exiting...makes me feel like a cold bottle o' Coke!
