Re: IS THIS A JL8?
I'm restoring a JL8 rear end- D-11-9.I have approximately 5 yrs into this thing.I had no idea what it was when I bought it 'till I really looked at it.It's a QW rear.I've had to replace almost everything on it.The only thing I'm having trouble with are the axles. They were gone when I got the diff as were the e brake cable brackets. When they took the backing plates off they used a torch and wrecked the rear flanges-DUH!!So it has been an up hill battle thus far.I found this in a '55 Chevy Bel Air that was totalled that had the matching L78/M22 drivetrain in the car.The only thing the owner would seperate with was the rear end.Had no idea what it was.I do plan on parting with it as the car I was going to put it in-I sold. This does belong in an April/69 car.I put the identical brake set up 4 piston caliper(front and rear) in my '66 Pontiac 2 dr post and WOW,what stopping power!!!! Will post pic's soon.
