That A-O-R timing cover that reads 29 69 is not the 29th day of the year, it is the 29th week of the year. Which is July 13 to 19 1969
I asked about my Date on the LS6 cover a few months ago and all the Date Gurus here told me that the timing cover's first number is in fact a Week code number.
