That's actually the point there "supposed" to break. After approx 180` of twist. An old race trick is to paint/scribe a line down the shaft to monitor how much twist is going on after a year of abuse. They will twist over time, esp with slicks. Most I've seen fail twards the splines. Haven't seen one like that in a while.

You'll like the Mosers, I'd be putting in new bearings now too. Those old junk axles like to tear them up. Good studs as well.
