Default Re: 69 JL8 rear

The JL8's are all Stamped QX and are 3.73 ratio the same ratio used on the drum axles for the 302 Z/28.

Also the JL8's have more clutch plates than a standard Z/28 differential and the carrier numbers are different.

Read Untold Secrets by Wayne D. Guinn before you make a purchase.

I have a JL8 but its a Green Sheet, Heavy Duty Service Axle not the production street version. The HD Service Axle uses B-car axles and bearings and is a half an inch narrower than a standard drum flange to flange.

A factory JL8 is wider than a standard drum axle, flange to flange. JL8's are running 14k and Service Axles are heavily hunted down bc as and over the counter item it was added on to any car like the headers and cross rams and was the first race version built and offered over the counter prior to the build of the factory offered JL8 street version.

JL8's were not limited to the Camaro's and could be ordered on Nova's and Chevelle's but I think the ratio was still 3.73.

Hope this helps you when the time comes.
