The engine pad is located on the right side of the front of the motor. Where the head lies on the block there will be a pad that sticks out about an inch. There should be some numbers stamped that include the last numbers of you vin # and the assembly date and code of the engine.

By the information provided thus far I have little doubt the car is an original SS 350.
