Default Re: Buick GSX in Sweden

Yes Anders, that is correct and I have never mentioned it here.

That GSX is special in many cases. The owner put on a spoiler because he thinks it should be there.

The '71 were ordered with rear spoiler delete (if that now was an option) since that kind of spoiler wasn't allowed here. The reason was pretty farfetched, they said that if you hit a pedestrian and he flew over the roof he could get caught in the spoiler and break a limb.

I would say that if he got that far he would be pretty much more injured and would probably be very happy if he only broke an arm.

On the other hand a roof rack was very much legal.

In truth the car inspection had many silly rules to prevent musclecars (or american cars in general) to enter the Swedish market if they were privately imported. They enforced braketesting were the car was driven up to 100mph with fully weighted load and then they hit the brakes in full. This was repetead several times and the car had to stop within a certain distance. After those test you had to replace both rotors and brakepads/drums and linings. It was crazy, lucky for us it has become better nowadays.
