While I would generally agree with everyone that you <span style="text-decoration: underline">should</span> be able to find something pretty nice for $30k - I am constantly amazed at the "issues" that many of these cars have (just ask kwhizz...).
Casually perusing the cars for sale at Jefferson this past Friday most everything I saw at any price range below $30k had seriously spray bombed engine compartments/chassis with Auto Zone accessories, questionable bodywork, and medicore interiors - most all needed something. Maybe I am too picky and certainly there are always exceptions to this but they are becoming fewer every year. You can see why no issue cars with original components (drivetrain and major accessories like alternator, distributor, carb, etc) are selling more quickly and getting more money.
