I thought I knew at one time how to read the date code on the column but now I can not seem to make sense of it

the #s are 7B 272 E1
I think that is the 272 day of 67 but not sure about the B or E1
or am I all wrong which seems to happen alot any more

Any one know ? I seem to remember seeing how to decode it somewhere but can not seem to find any thing
