Default Re: Beach City Chevrolet

a frame like this?

I acquired this in 1973 when I accompanied a friend out to CA from Michigan to visit his brother in the Air Force.

We bought a nice 63 split window in Sacramento ($1800 is what I remember) and cruised the coast AND Van Nuys Blvd (the 1st time I learned about low riders) with it. When in LB I saw the Beach City dealership and had to stop to get a frame.

It was then put on my CA born 56 DelRay with the 68 Z28 302 in it. Still have the plates too, my neighbor ran a Sec'y of State office and got me the pseudo "personalized" plates for the Chevy, NVY 302 (envy).

The frame (and plates) is (are) on the car in this picture of a 50's night at General Motors Institute in Flint:

(I can't believe all the "stuff" I have kept over the years, I still have the speedometer cable "lock" that was on that 56, the car was a rental car and they affixed a tube over the back of the speedo cable as it came out of the back of the speedometer to thwart those interested in racking up more miles than they would pay for I guess).

I tried calling the number I found and it is disconnected and the satellite view shows an empty location

Beach City Chevrolet Co
(562) 420-4200
2800 North Bellflower Boulevard
Long Beach, CA 90815

Googling the address comes up with a Champion Chevrolet now, same phone number ...
