Default Re: Day 2 vs Street Freaks vs Period Speed Parts

I like to think we (MCACN) were one of the first to acknowledge the Day 2 mods for shows.

For the MCACN show, we offer a specific categeory called "Day 2/Concours". This is judged in the same manner as a full-on Concours entry, with the exception being that period correct mods are considered in the judging process, IF they are date correct within 2 years of the original manufcature date of the vehicle, they pass the test. In most cases, aftermarket parts indeed can be date verified.

This category differs from our "Street Stock/Modified" classes in that SS/Mod can have any mods, color changes, engine swaps etc, but they are judged for quality of the mods, fit and finish with no regard to the age of the parts. In other words, a 69 Camaro with Radial T/A's, a color change and chrome valve covers may do great in SS/Mod, but would get major point deductions in Day 2 Concours.

Although we choose to use the 2-year rule, that is just our way of doing it and not a set rule for Day 2.

We created this category to acknowledge and encourage (and credit) a higher level of cars that are properly modified and also for cars like Nickeys, early Yenkos etc that may have had engine swaps when new, that would be docked points under "standard" Concours judging practices.

This is clearly our fastest growing category and is generating considerable interest.
