Re: Day 2 vs Street Freaks vs Period Speed Parts
Right away I had to put bigger rubber on our old Chevelle. Within the first year or so I had added 15" rallys and bigger rubber all around. The headers and Hurst shifter came along within the first couple of years as well. Buying the car generally emptied the bank accounts of us young guys and it took a while to save up enough for the add ons. Two years sounds reasonable for a day two car. Back in '68 I bought my Ram Air Firebird with about 6K miles on it. The original owner, a little older and flushed with money, had the new car done before it ever left the dealership. The engine was balanced and blueprinted with the Royal Pontiac Bobcat kit and headers added. The rear rims were widened to 8" and fat MTs were added all around along with traction bars. A Camaro spoiler was added and the rear face was painted black. I guess you couldn't get any closer to Day 2 than that. It was a fun car to say the least.

Chevelleless after 46 years......but we did find a low mileage, six speed, silver 2005 Corvette. It will just have to do for now.
