Sam, that's what I thought. Usually..... the cause for that situation is becuause the cap ring is for an EEC tank which used a different (non-vented) cap. The depth of the cap ring lip is different to prevent the inadvertent use of the wrong cap - and thereby potentially sucking in the tank!
My advice (albeit unsolicited!) is to use a Quanta tank! A little pricey, but.....

Marlin - the Spectrum tank looks real nice. Mikey promises me even a doofus like me can unsolder the old cap receiver and put the correct one back on. Me being a cheap-skate and all
, I gotta try this way 1st before buying a Quanta. BTW - I called Q and they would not sell the cap receiver separately to me. I got the feeling they do not make them there anyway (subcontractor?).
