Default Re: 1969 L72 Biscayne

I'll say amen to Mark's comments on the L72 engine. In about 200K miles ours got one valve spring, oil, filter, belts, a fan clutch, water pump and hoses. It wasn't babied but wasn't totally abused either. In the Chevelle parts book is a chart listing the weights of the various options. Tally up your options and then go to another chart to cross reference which springs to use. You can add a couple of hundred pounds by loading a Chevelle with all the goodies. It would be getting the weight up there with a stripped big car. I don't know how accurate the scales were but our Chevelle weighed 3700 with half a tank of gas.

Chevelleless after 46 years......but we did find a low mileage, six speed, silver 2005 Corvette. It will just have to do for now.
