It was entirely possible to have different stuff installed during a warranty replacement. I know of an L78 Chevelle that had an L72 short block installed through warranty. It kind of helped to know the right people I guess.

Chevelleless after 46 years......but we did find a low mileage, six speed, silver 2005 Corvette. It will just have to do for now.
