Shipping to/from the mainland today is about a grand.
I had an older neighbor who was a org owner of a 66 SS Nova and he showed me paperwork for the car where shipping was 50 cents from Long Beach CA. He worked for the shipping company at the time. I tried to get the car from him since he was 90 but he promised it to his great grandson who wrapped it around a pole 2 months later
Also Aloha Motors was the largest GM Dealership in Hawaii at the time. A few L78s and COPOs are said to have sold out of there along with one car I keep looking for to prove it urban legend or not
