Default Re: Lucas Oil Additive & a Fresh Motor????????

Here we again about the oil and Rotella in general. Now, Rotella was all right to use for awhile in the older, flat tappet engines, but it too, now has the reduced zinc levels in it. It's time to shy away from it. That Brad-Penn oil, although I've never personally used it, is supposed to be excellent and I've heard nothing but good things about it. The dino-based Valvoline Racing oil 20W-50 has the zinc content in it also. My current, personal favorite is the synthetic Mobil 1 15W-50 sold at every Wal-Mart at $22.00 for a 5-quart container. Check out Mobil 1's web site and you'll see it's formulated with the zinc, etc. for older engines. Now there's a couple different Mobil 15W-50's, so make sure you get the correct one. It's priced great! I'm sure everybody already knows the procedure for seating rings with standard oil at break-in and then switching to synthetic. As far as additives, I like one of the zinc/break-in additives at first but nothing after that. Most petroleum engineers cringe at the thought of adding things to their finely developed products.
