Darren, I haven't given up on having at least some of the product built here. I have a company named Pet Goods Mfg. no more than 20 miles up 400 (Buckhead to Dahlonaga). They could build and sell my product but they won't even talk to me!! The first time I chalked it up to incompetence. After two more tries I just said to hell with them. Maybe they consider me competition. Idiots. (Google Pet Goods Mfg. in Dahlonaga, GA.....just call them and ask what the hell their problem is!) Is this typical of American mfgs??
We have the second highest corp. tax in the world. And we could debate tariffs until the cows come home and never get anywhere. I have no problem with tax breaks (subsidy). If that just allowed the U.S. to be competitive it would bring in billions of dollars of revenue. Right now we are not even close.
I could have the product built 20 miles from my house but instead I have go half way around the world to have it built. Crazy.
