And so, I drove the beast home, much to Vicki's dismay, as it was neat but obviously not pretty. The plan was to strip and repaint it in Plum Crazy Purple, add some buckets seats and carpet, freshen the drivetrain and drive it.
Engine was pulled and professionally rebuilt, adding a 484 purple shaft cam and an electronic ignition along with full 2 1/2" exhaust and flowmasters along with the "proper" square style mopar exhaust tips. Heads were cleaned up and the fresh engine was reinstalled.
After having a bad experience with a friend who I thought knew how to paint a car, the car ended up in primer. Well...it has remained in primer since 1996.
Ian and I drove the car to the Mopar Nats twice with no problems and had a blast with it, although with the minimal insulation and flowmasters, our ears were ringing all weekend!
Car has P295/50's on the back and P225's up front and it is slammed as low as the torsion bars can go, sitting on factory steelies with the small Dodge hubcaps. The rear has also been dropped. It has a pair of 69 Charger buckets up front with Legendary covers, but they need to be redone or at the least, properly installed. The body has minimal rust with some bubbling on the tailgate and a slight popping on one of the quarters. It has a variety of small dents and dings. Al of the glass is good and the w/s is new, which is another story in itself. It needs floorboards, as it sat in a Nebraska field for years, as I was later told by a guy who went nuts at Mopar Nats back in the late 90's, who proved he had once owned the car.
The car needs some body work but it runs and drives great. Although it has been sitting for a long time, I pulled it out of the garage and off the jackstands this past May and had the oil changed, leaks sealed and brakes checked etc. I drove it home from the shop and occasionally go out and fire it up. It always starts after cranking in that familiar Mopar way.
Anyway, I need to sell this car as I don't see me having the time to finish it, and the bills are still coming in...
If you or anyone you know has interest, let me know. I am asking $5,200.00, which is considerably less than what I have invested.
I will forward some pictures to Bruce later today or I can e-mail some pics to anyone interested.
