Default Re: Attached Garage Storage Question

I have plywood down on the garage floor with indoor/outdoor carpeting on top of that that I leave down all year long. I also run a dehumidifyer all the time. I seal off the garage door area with heavy 4 mil plastic and do not open it until spring. I remove everything from the trunk and interior of the car such as spare tire assembly, trunk mat and the interior floor mats as to allow everything to breath. Leave the windows cracked on the car to allow air to circulate. Drypac moisture bags are a good idea..

Running a dehumidifyer is the TICKET!! You would be amazed how much moisture you pull out. Mine fills up daily in the summertime. Winter is not bad, fills up maybe once a week.. Good investment... DO NOT put blankets or anything else heavy on the car or in the motor compartment. A friend of mine, for whatever reason, put a heavy blanket over his engine one winter and in the spring he got condensation in the garage and the entire engine compartment was sweating badly because of that blanket on there. He learned his lesson on that quickly...
